Who We Are

The Obesity Free Foods Association is a Non-Profit

501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the reduction of obesity, especially childhood obesity.  We believe that Obesity is a complex multi factorial epidemic which must be fought with three tenets: (1) Mind, (2) Body and (3) Nutrition.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to educate and prevent obesity and reduce chronic disease related factors associated with obesity by educating the public on Obesity Free Foods that are (1) Natural, (2) Portion Controlled, and

(3) Nutrient Dense, as well as living an Obesity Free Lifestyle composed of daily physical exercise and a positive mental/emotional health outlook.

THE OBESITY EPIDEMIC

Obesity as defined by the Centers for Disease Control is an adult who has a Body Mass Index of 30 or higher. The CDC reports that 33.8% of U.S. adults are obese and 17% (12.5 million) of children and adolescents are obese.

The National Institutes of Health - National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, defines Obesity as a complex multi-factorial chronic disease that involves the integration of social, behavioral, cultural, physiological, metabolic and genetic factors. We believe that in order to fight obesity, all of these factors must be addressed together in a cohesive fashion.

OUR VISION

We believe that the Food Industry plays a key role in the prevention of obesity and the Food Industy is an integral part of the solution. The manufacturing, advertising and promotion of certain foods that promote obesity has a direct relationship to their consumption and the increase of the obesity epidemic.

Our goal is to educate members of the Food Industry on obesity and the foods, ingredients and additives that increase the obesity epidemic. The Obesity Free Foods Nutrition Guidelines offer solutions on food items, packaging concepts, portion sizes, natural ingredients and additives to help decrease the obesity epidemic.
